Historical place
This is the Native place of the greatpoet Shri Subramaniya Bharathi one of the brave men of india who raised voice against the British Rule in India. He has composed many simple poems which was intelligible even to the layman as well as the Children. His poems are adapted in the present Cine Film Songs in such a way that his message of pariotism, morals, women's liberations, folk scenes reaches the mass effortlessly.
His associate was VOC-Chidambaram(pillai)

His views are relavent even to day,his verses are quoted in many situation by the present political parties.
